I work with couples and individuals using EFT and an attachment-based framework, based on current neuroscience research involving mindfulness and attachment.  I also teach in the Health and Human Development Department at Montana State University. I have worked as a wilderness therapist for Three Rivers Montana, helped develop their clinical program and parent workshop, and I have worked with children, teens and their families through the Comprehensive School and Community Treatment program.

I have been working with clients since 1999 with such issues including grief, trauma, anxiety, depression, foster care and adoption, and relationship issues.  I strive to help couples and individual clients feel more connected with themselves and in their significant relationships.

Our partners have the potential to be a source of joy, and they can be one of our biggest activators. Relationships can bring up a spiral of emotions from joy to fear, shame, anger, self-doubt and so much more. These emotions can all spiral instantaneously and seemingly all together. I work with EFT to slow down the spiral of emotions so that each partner begins to see their own cycle and how that plays into the bigger cycle of the relationship. I have witnessed the calming and connecting effect that EFT can have on couples.

I was born and raised in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina. Being born of western parents – my dad born in Unionville, MT and mother in Tulsa, OK – I felt the calling to come back to the West. I found my way to Utah and Wyoming to work for the National Outdoor Leadership School (NOLS) and other wilderness based programs. My career took a change when I decided to attend graduate school in Bozeman for Mental Health Therapy. Over the years, the folks I work with often speak to feeling emotionally safe during our sessions and having an easy connection with me. Often, I use wilderness as metaphor, as Montanans can relate to the connection and clarity that comes from our open spaces. For the last 5 years I have been working at Gallatin Psychotherapy (GPI), and am currently Senior Staff. GPI has helped to deepened my knowledge and skill with the intricacies of EFT and Internal Family Systems (IFS). I have Additional Training in EFT and am Level 3 Certified in IFS.

"And the selfsame well from which your laughter rises was oftentimes filled with your tears."                  -Kahlil Gibran

Our ability to connect with others and create strong relationships is critical to our well-being.  It's painful when we live a disconnected existence separated from that which we long for most.  Working together to discover the connection, support, and love we long for inspires my work with couples and my continued dedication to the study and implementation of EFT in my practice.

After graduating from Lesley University with my MA in Counseling Psychology, I worked in many diverse settings.  Some of these include counseling youth and their families in Worcester, MA, conducting forensic interviews in Twin Falls, ID, providing counseling for middle schoolers in Belgrade, MT, and offering stress reduction training in community settings.  Now, I run a private counseling practice in Bozeman, MT working with couples and individuals.  I grew up on a cattle ranch in Northeastern Nevada, and after living elsewhere for many years, I consider myself very fortunate to have returned west and to call Bozeman home.

Are you satisfied with the quality of your relationships? Most people agree that our life is made infinitely better by close connections and becomes intensely challenging when our relationships are problematic, painful, and unfulfilling. Are you stressed, burdened, frustrated, outraged, or lonely within your relationship with others? Or is the relationship you have with yourself overwhelmed with internal conflict? I can help. My private practice empowers individuals and couples to significantly improve their intrapersonal and interpersonal relationships. I foster client authenticity, self-love and self-esteem within individuals and guide couples through conversations that create close connections and secure bonds.

Through scientifically validated Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), we map out the unique patterns of interaction between you and your partner, increase self awareness, and rekindle intimacy between partners. Couples consistently express feeling heard, understood, validated, appreciated, connected by and with their partners. Many couples successfully transform persistent relational problems into secure bonds through a deep emotional understanding of each partner's inner experience. The outcome is often one of deep emotional intimacy and sexual connection.

When working with both couples and individuals I draw from the wisdom of (EFT), Internal Family Systems (IFS), attachment theory, mindfulness, acceptance and tolerance, somatic experiencing, guided imagery, and the mind-body connection of neuroscience. My active, interpersonal approach to counseling is designed to empower you to connect more deeply with yourself and others.

Jessica Lenneman.jpg

Jessica Lenneman, LCSW

I consider my greatest therapeutic focus to be trauma-recovery work. My areas of expertise include: trauma, abuse, sexual/physical abuse, divorce, conflictual relationships, traumatic life events, and post-partum mood disorders. I also support those with depression, anxiety, grief/loss, school or work struggles, parenting challenges, and difficult life events. I am an EFT-trained couples/marriage therapist. I also have extensive background teaching gender identity classes to professionals and working with individuals struggling with their own gender/sexual identity. I see tweens, teens, and adults.

My approach is client-centered and strength-based, with an emphasis on cognitive behavioral interventions and emotionally focused attachment-based therapy. I view therapy as sacred and collaborative. Clients would describe me as energetic, warm, and planful.

Over the last 14 years, I have found my strength in navigating client trust. I have found a way to make trauma and the experiences you bring to therapy less scary, overwhelming, and more supportive....this is how your change is allowed, your life renewed, and your goals achieved.

As a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist and Licensed Clinical Professional Counselor, I work with couples who are looking to repair a damaged relationship, find greater emotional and physical intimacy, and achieve healthier conflict resolution. I work exclusively from an Emotion Focused Therapy for Couples (EFT) perspective, which is based on the human need for attachment and intimacy.

When working with clients, I first help them identify their repetitive and negative patterns, and over time learn to change them. As the process unfolds, partners begin to understand each other on a deeper level and develop empathy. Once this foundation is laid, deep intimacy and healthy conflict resolution become the relational norm.
